1st IODA President Visit to Cyprus
First visit of the President of the International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) in Cyprus.
In the context of undertaking the organization of the Optimist World Championship 2018, the Famagusta Nautical Club welcomed this past Thursday, November 10th the President of IODA, Mr. Peter Barclay.
The visit was the first of scheduled two, by IODA to the island and our Club, in order to determine and help better organize the Optimist World Championship at the end of August 2018.
Mr. Barclay, inspected the facilities of our Club, asked questions, and got all the answers needed to the issues concerning the organization of the World Championship. There was an excellent collaboration with very positive impressions from both sides. Both parties were fully satisfied with the results of the 3-day visit.
By the close of business an honorary award was given to Mr. Barclay from the Secretary General of the Club, Stelios Charalambous for the first visit ever of an IODA President to Cyprus and the Famagusta Nautical Club. The work was also attended by Mr. Nuno Reis, who was appointed by Famagusta Nautical Club as the 2018 Event Manager.
