IOANNIDEIA 2018 - Event Managize

Dear Friends, On behalf of the board members, we would like to welcome you to Limassol Cyprus and the Famagusta Nautical Club. The most historic Club of the island of Cyprus founded in 1960 at the occupied, as of today, city of Famagusta. Located then, at the Jerry Island in Famagusta played an important role in the development of water sports in Cyprus. The Club’s history is marked with great athletic achievements, as well as with a rich social contribution in Cyprus. Our Club since its founding days plays a historic and major role in the development of sailing, swimming, canoe/kayak, rowing, triathlon, water polo, power boats and offshore sailing with its active involvement as a founding member in the above mentioned water sport, Associations. Since then, the club has been a leader in all water sports by developing high records with its athletes, and competing with grade success in all National andmany international Championships. We have held the first place, as a champion Club, in all sports and in consecutive years. The longest winning streak though comes in swimming where our Club has been the Champion for the past 19 years consecutively, up until 2017. Due to our Club's success, we have accomplished to gain the respect, as well as built relationships with all Nautical Clubs of the Island of Cyprus, as well as with our neighboring country of Greece, Israel and the great vicinity of the Sporting Society. As a Club that today has its geographic location in Limassol, after the invasion of 1974 and the relocation from Famagusta, we are today referred as one of the center points of the City of Limassol. At our modern and newly renovated building we offer to our members and visitors comfort, romance and total satisfaction throughout the day and night. In our effort to have active members, we organize a variety of social, and sports events both on shore, and offshore, and we try to get as many of our members involved, as possible. The greatest of all of our organizing events is ” IOANNIDEIA”, an event established by Famagusta Nautical Club in the memory of Our Vice President, and after death Honorary President, Commodore of the Cyprus Navy,Andrea Ioannide. The Event takes place in Limassol, in front of our Club, although some social events take place to the premises of our Partner, Limassol Marina. The Event started out with a single Offshore race back in 2013 with ceremonies at our Club, including formal dinner, cocktail, musicians and a concept related to the tragic event. For this year, “IOANNIDEIA” will move to the top of the Sailing World. After a successful bid, the th Famagusta Nautical Club is organizing the 2018 Optimist World Championship during August 27 2018 th and September 6 2018. The International Offshore Regatta that took place in 2017 was the biggest (with more than fifty (50) participants from 8 countries) ever in Cyprus, so far. After the recognition in 2016 by the Offshore Racing Congress (ORC) to adopt our Event and create the ORCChallenge Trophy, and after our Club decided to place a bid for the European ORC Championship in 2018, with successful results, the Famagusta Nautical Club is also the Organizer of the 2018 ORC European Championship, as well, following the th IODAWorld Championship, between September 8 and September 15th. Both, the IODA 2018 World Championship and the 2018 ORC European Championship will be placed under the general umbrella of “IOANNIDEIA” in the biggest ever Sport Organization in Cyprus which will st also include the 2018 Optimist Mediterranean Championship, between August 21 and August 26th, the th th 2018 ORC Challenge Trophy Mare Nostrum, from September 8 to September 15 and the International th th Cyprus – Israel Offshore Race, on September 16 to 20 along with many more water sport and social activities.
